HOLDING AND AFFIRMING OUR COLLECTIVE HEALING JOURNEY

"Sana, sana, culito de rana, si no sanas hoy, sanarás mañana" is a well-known Spanish language expression I grew up hearing in my Cuban household. Although regional variations of it exist, this one translates to "heal, heal, little frog's booty, if you don't heal today, you'll heal tomorrow." The expression is typically said to a child to comfort them after they’ve been hurt, and the reference to the frog's behind is meant to bring in some humor during a moment of pain.

My liberation and healing are bound up with yours. I see healing as an ongoing process that we do for ourselves, our community, and the ones who will come after us. A process where we collectively hold space for each other, tend to our wounds, laugh, and strengthen our capacity to survive and thrive.

Whether we work together or not, I hope that the resources I share here can contribute to a little healing - if not today, maybe tomorrow.

In solidarity,

Aury Garcia, LCSW (he/él)
